Whiteout landscape

It’s been a fabulous weekend with frozen lake and whiteout conditions. The air was humid causing fog and haze. The humidity froze on trees and everywhere else. Excellent opportunity to shoot winter landscapes with a high-key profile. I captured this landscape on a frozen lake close to my home.

Pursuing protectionism

“Pursuing protectionism is like locking oneself in a dark room. While wind and rain may be kept outside, that dark room will also block light and air. No one will emerge as a winner in a trade war.”

– Xi Jinping, President of the People’s Republic of China

My daughter in law – Cathrine – turned 40 last month. I was engaged to document the celebration. It all started just over midnight when friends and family marked her day by waking her up just a minute into her birthday. And of course with cake, gifts, flags, flowers and …bubbles 🙂

She had the birthday party in a fine venue – the theater in Drammen, Norway. All the guests posed for the photographer when entering the venue. It was December in Norway and near the darkest day in the year. So some additional lighting was needed. The torches gave me a bit of of a puzzle. Anyway, monochrome is very close to my taste, so colors was not a problem. Notice the posters next to the doors.

If you want happiness for a day — go fishing.
If you want happiness for a year — inherit a fortune.
If you want happiness for a lifetime — help someone else.

Captured late afternoon on the Norwegian Constitution Day – 17th May ??. I wondered why she was sitting there, on the pavement, without shoes – alone.
